PREVIEW: Hull City v Birmingham City

It's been a week of mixed fortunes for Hull City. The euphoria of hanging on against Millwall to claim a narrow 2-1 victory - a first in four matches - was tempered by the sad news that that ex-Tiger and 80s cult hero Bobby Doyle had passed away at just 66 years of age. A terrible loss - and everyone connected with CI pass on their condolences to Bobby's family and friends.

The game arriving this Saturday is expected to be a tough affair, as Birmingham City appear to have found their mojo under manager Garry Monk. Opposite number Nigel Adkins has injury concerns ahead of the fixture, with defender Stephen Kingsley and striker Fraizer Campbell both likely to be ruled out with injury. In more positive news, midfielder Kevin Stewart may return after a recent back complaint, while skipper Markus Henriksen has extended his contract with the club, along with goalkeeper Will Mannion.

Not only arriving in decent form, the Blues find themselves three points and three place above the Tigers in the league before kick off. Barring a six goal tonking, Hull City are likely to remain below Birmingham City come the end of the game. Although, the Tigers have previous here, with last season's fixture at the Circle finishing 6-1. However, the Blues are reporting no new injury concerns ahead of the game - and could well field the same team that beat in-form Bristol City on the road in midweek.
