PREVIEW: Hull City v Cardiff City

It's difficult to know what to expect on the field this Saturday, as Hull City are assured of their Championship status now, while Cardiff City push for promotion to the Premier League. The Tigers seemingly lurch from the sublime (0-5 at Burton) to the ridiculous (5-5 at Bristol City) to the downright turgid (0-1 loss at home to Sheff Wed) meaning attempting to call what we will see in this match, is a nigh on impossibility.

The last hurrah

One thing that will be seen, is yet another protest from the home fans. The latest Allam shenanigans is the proposed introduction of ID cards for all home supporters. Protesters are being asked to gather before the game at West Park gates, with anonymous Guido Fawkes masks, in yet another show of defiance at the crazy antics our owners continually foist on the long suffering supporters of Hull City - or at least, those still actually bothering to attend.

Squad news deems manager Nigel Adkins will have Adama Diomande back in his selection plans, following a recent injury, while Fikayo Tomori, Kamil Grosicki and Abel Hernandez hope to get a starting XI place once again. Speculation linking first choice keeper Allan McGregor with a move to Rangers, is unlikely to prevent the City boss from selecting the Scottish international, meaning fellow team mate David Marshall may not get to face his former club.

Cardiff City are on the brink of automatic promotion, knowing if they win both their remaining matches, a return to the Premier League beckons. Yet, boss Neil Warnock is currently seeing his side endure an unwelcome wobble in form at exactly the wrong time, with three defeats from their last five outings. However, midfielders Aron Gunnarsson and Callum Paterson are expected to be fit for the clash, while Kenneth Zohore, Craig Bryson and on-loan Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic could all be recalled to the side.
