SUMMARY: Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-2 Hull City

Hull City earned a welcome, if somewhat unexpected point, away at the Championship leaders this Tuesday evening, but it was nothing less than they deserved for a spirited performance at Molineux.

A much changed and wholly unorthodox line up greeted the league leaders, but the indignation did not take long to arrive, as a trip in the box led to a Wolves penalty in the 18th minute – Jota duly obliging for the hosts. City took an age to get into the match, but were handed a lifeline of on 37 minutes, when a silly push on Meyler gave the Tigers their own penalty. Meyler obliged himself and slammed in straight down the middle to tie up the scores at the interval.

Aina spurned two early chances on the restart as the Tigers presented much fiercer opposition for the table toppers throughout the second period. Indeed, it was the visitors now making all the running and Hector headed a glorious chance wide to put City in front from a Grosicki freekick. But the rewards came via a Bennett own goal on 78 minutes to put the visitors in the lead. However, the joy was short-lived as Wolves struck back seven minutes from time through Buur’s late header.
