SUMMARY: Hull City 1-2 Millwall

Dear me. Incredibly, Hull City - and it's astonishing to say this given the absolute garbage that everyone witnessed this Tuesday evening - are likely to stay up this season. By default, naturally, because quite unbelievably, there are actually three worse teams in the Championship than us. Amazing, but ultimately, true.

50 seconds, though...

Tonight, City didn't, fight, compete or show any inkling of learning the same, tired, old, boring lessons that have got us into this mess. Need proof? Just 50 seconds it took for Saville to walk the ball into the Tigers' net to give Millwall a 0-1 lead. 50 seconds. Bowen responded with a rasping drive that clattered the bar, but come the 33rd minute, a free header from a corner gave the visitors a 0-2 advantage courtesy of Cooper. It was an atrocious half of football from Hull City.

The second half, City at least huffed and puffed, but never looked like breaking Millwall down. Dicko and Irvine worked tirelessly and the latter was subbed, that saw Hernandez introduced to the fray for the first time since August, following an Achilles injury. The Uruguayan took no time to settle in, having the foresight to read Larsson's cross and poke home in the 79th minute to give the Tigers some fleeting hope. But it wasn't ever meant to be, as an abysmal first half cost City any hope of salvaging something from the match.
