SUMMARY: Middlesbrough 3-1 Hull City

So, the 0-2 winning result at Nottingham Forest last time out in the Championship has signalled only minor respite for Hull City. This Tuesday, up at Middlesbrough, the Tigers were once again found wanting on the road, as the hosts clocked up a comfortable home win.

Teeside trauma for Tigers

The Tigers were keen to build on their away day success at the City Ground, but it took Middlesbrough all of 16 minutes to break City's resistance when Gestede had a free header to give the hosts the lead. Hull City were struggling, but rallied towards the end of the half -
and on 41 minutes, a set piece move from a corner, saw Evandro sweep in from the edge of the box. Yet, the Tigers' good work was undone right on half time, as Bamford dinked in to leave City trailing just four minutes after the equaliser.

Middlesbrough hold an impressive record at the Riverside and have won every game they have held the lead this season. It was already at twelve matches and counting, so when Gestede added his second and Middlesbrough's third on 58 minutes, the writing was on the wall for the Tigers. Results elsewhere, mean Hull City remain out of the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of their critical home game with Sheffield United on Friday.
