PREVIEW: Sheffield Wednesday v Hull City

Wherever you stand on the Slutsky in or out debate, for this match at the very least, the Russian will be in charge of Hull City. Quite what the long term future holds - or indeed what the impact of the short term future will have on the long term - are factors as yet unknown. Yet again, City appear to be lacking a rudder or clarity. So typical this, of an Allam led regime.

Remember when this was Hullsborough?

On the pitch, Slutsky will welcome back captain Michael Dawson to his squad for the trip to Hillsborough. Well, assuming the rumour of a bust up isn't true - and the line that the defender was ill for Bristol City was indeed genuine. Midfielder Jon Toral is also back in contention - and if Slutsky needs a win to stay in a job, he could do no worse than look at the ex-Arsenal man to provide that creative attacking spark.

Home boss Carlos Carvalhal will undoubtedly be in a double thick duffel coat and smarting from a defeat at Wembley courtesy of Hull City. Well, probably. Defender Tom Lees is ruled out with a groin injury and ex-Tiger George Boyd will not be available due to a long term shoulder problem that has kept him out since September. Incredibly, Hull City have not lost at 'Hullsborough' since 2007. Hmmm....
