PREVIEW: Hull City v Bristol City

Forever, will Bristol City be etched in Hull City folklore, what a day May 24th 2008 at Wembley was. Yet, almost ten years on, the contrast between these two clubs - back in the Championship - could not be more startling. Hull City are mired in off-field politics, wranglings and owner issues, while Bristol City are riding high in the league and looking set to finally stake a credible claim for Premier League football.

When skies are grey...

The heady days of the top flight, seem but a distant memory these days, such is the turmoil going on at Hull City. Even Slutsky - just weeks into his reign as the Tigers boss - is enduring tasteless rumours about his own position at the club. Like the Russian stood a chance, let alone be given a one. It really is rotten from the top down - and we all know who is to blame for that, don't we?

While the gates dwindle and a Slutsky rallying cry is trampled under the jackboot of heated fan protests and emotions towards the owners, the affable former CSKA Moscow man is probably thumbing through a Russian thesaurus for 'basket case' right now. How can he even worry about his job in and amongst this madness? It's just nonsense. In the meantime, matters on the field will see Seb Larsson return from a ban, while Jon Toral makes a welcome return to training. James Weir joins the lengthy injured list at the club.

Lee Johnson was said to be a game away from the sack at the end of last season, before a miraculous escape from relegation spawned. to save the club - and most probably his job. Now riding high in 5th in the current table, the Robins will need to assess Milan Djuric and Joe Bryan before selecting a side to meet the Tigers. Cauley Woodrow is pushing for a start.
