PREVIEW: Aston Villa v Hull City

It had to be Bruce's lot, didn't it? It had to be at a graveyard of a ground, too. And it just had to be on telly for good measure. Hull City's trip to Aston Villa is likely to be our trickiest fixture of the entire campaign, straight off the bat. Yeah, thanks for that EFL. Probably then, best to get it out of the way now.

It is very difficult at this embryonic stage of the season to know precisely how new manager Leonid Slutsky will assemble his team - especially as the Russian claims more signings are needed - and hopefully some are imminent. However, long term absentees are not available including, Moses Odubajo, Will Keane, Ryan Mason and David Marshall. David Meyler could yet feature, though and all the summer signings to date - Ola Aina, Michael Hector, Kevin Stewart, Ondrej Mazuch and Fraizer Campbell - will hope to figure.

Ex-Tiger boss Steve Bruce will be shorn of some key players due to injury most notably, Jack Grealish, Jonathan Kodjia, Mike jedinak and Albert Adoma. However, new signings Sam Johnson and Glenn Whelan are available for selection, including recently signed from Hull City, Ahmed Elmohamady. It will be interesting to see how many assists, nay goals, the Egyptian manages to stick past us, as is the Football League rule that deems at least one of these factors must happen against us.

Bet you're all glad that the football season has rushed around so quickly, this year, right? Maybe not, then...
