NEWS: Positive news on players

Hull City's new manager Leonid Slutsky has met the players for the first time since taking over the reins from Marco Silva, as the Tigers prepare for a gruelling campaign in the Championship, with the hope of bouncing back to the Premier League at the first attempt, for the second successive time.

Pre-season is under way

With pre-season underway, the best news of all was seeing Ryan Mason returning to training, albeit at this stage only undertaking non-contact sessions. Slutsky stated on the midfielder - 'Ryan is between two groups at the moment. He is doing some technical parts of the training sessions with the main group, and other parts of training he is doing outside of the group. That is a normal situation for somebody in his position.'

Meanwhile, David Meyler is expected to return to training within three weeks, as he recovers from the knee injury that curtailed his Premier League season. Moses Odubajo's return is some way off, after suffering a relapse from a dislocated knee that ruled him out entirely last term, but Will Keane could be back in action in autumn, with Slutsky revealing - 'With Will, we are looking at him coming back in October. He has had a very serious injury.'

On pre-season itself, Slutsky claimed - 'We’ve got two training sessions per day. It’s really a difficult time. I’ll try to explain my principles and philosophies. Now we have good contact and it’s time to start the serious work, we have only five weeks, it’s nothing for a new team. I have talked about our targets for next season. Of course, that’s promotion. A lot of players are really ready to help Hull to promotion.'
