NEWS: Defender deal done

Disappointing on so many levels, but not in the least bit surprising. Harry Maguire has departed from Hull City and taken up an offer from Leicester City in a deal claimed to be worth £17m in wider media sources - a fee that smashes all transfer records for monies received coming in to the club from a player sale.

Goodbye Harry...

Maguire joined Hull City in 2014 from Sheffield United and went on to make 75 appearances during his time with the Tigers. In a career that continued on an upward curve - despite needing to exercise patience upon his arrival in East Yorkshire - the big defender became a firm fans favourite and leaves the club with England talk ringing in his ears, such is the progression made at the Circle.

In a brief statement from the club, Hull City posted on their official website - 'Harry Maguire has completed a transfer to Leicester City for an undisclosed Club record fee. Maguire joins the former Premier League Champions having agreed a five-year deal. The centre back joined the Tigers in July 2014 and made 75 appearances, scoring three times. We would like to thank Harry for his efforts in a black and amber shirt and wish him well for his future career.'

It goes without saying from us all at CI that Harry will be hugely missed at the club and an enormous hole in our defence now needs filling. Good luck and goodbye.
