SUMMARY: Crystal Palace 4-0 Hull City

The very fact that Marco SIlva pushed Hull City's survival chances to the penultimate Premier League weekend was nothing short of a miracle anyway. The Tigers were relegated in a key encounter against Crystal Palace this Sunday lunchtime, but the stark truth was, City were still stunned from the sapping home defeat to Sunderland last time out.

Silva needed more than miracles this time, as the manacles had been placed around the Tigers, who seemed destined for the Championship following last Saturday's choker against the Mackems. The worst possible start ensued as Ranocchia swiped at fresh to let Zaha in on 2 minutes - with the hosts only needing a draw to survive - the pressure was popped immediately. City laboured without luck (a clear penalty for handball waved away) and were two down when Benteke netted a header from a corner on 35 minutes.

The Tigers huffed and puffed in the second period with little impact and became increasingly vulnerable to the counter. Schlupp won a penalty from a desperate Dawson challenge and Milivojevic despatched the spot kick on 85 minutes to consign City to their fate. To add insult to injury, poor defending saw van Arnholt scamper clear late on - and the 4-0 final score sent Hull City back to the Championship, after a torturous season of turmoil caused unequivocally by the wretched owners of this fine football club.
