NEWS: Six in the City as club strike deals to sign up players

From out of nowhere, Hull City have announced an astonishing six contract extensions today - and incredibly, all are players that are significant and key members in the squad, of which some have already been heavily linked with moves elsewhere, including Premier League rivals, Championship sides and Scottish top flight clubs.

Well, I will if you will? Err... do we have a say?

Those receiving contract deals until 2018, are captain Michael Dawson, Robert Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez, Andy Robertson, Harry Maguire and Jake Livermore. All of which, are widely considered to be the club's best players, but miraculously, all appear to be here for the increasing struggle against relegation. At first glance, anyway.

However, the news arguably raises more questions than answers, as it appears the club themselves have invoked optional contract extensions on the aforementioned players, rather than the players themselves agreeing to commit to the club. A brief statement on the club's official website read:

The club can confirm that it has exercised its option to extend the contracts of a number of key players. Therefore, the players below have had their existing contracts extended through until the summer of 2018:

Michael Dawson, Abel Hernandez, Jake Livermore, Harry Maguire, Andy Robertson and Robert Snodgrass

The club is also exercising the option in Josh Tymon’s scholarship agreement for the 2017/18 season.
