Bring brack other Brown!

Bring brack Britton!

Bring brack Brocklebank!

Bring brack Bruckley!

Make one of our old star players the new manager, because that is sooooo logical and all our old star players are guaranteed to be the best manager ever!

Bring back Barmby?

Frankly, it wears you down contemplating it all.

Big Sam, surely. Arf!

Take the utterly bonkers Villa approach.

Thierry Henry.

John Terry as no.2.

You couldn't make it up.

Assistant at Blackpool, 13th in League One, Phil Brown is currently 13th in League Two.

Bruce Bannister then. Billy Bremner?

Thread a trifle odd now.

There’s only one geezer welcome back at the Circle, Lord Silva of Marco.

Ask National.

I only used one criterion, Nash - I just did all the managers that began with B.

Brown no chance, he was as bent as Duffen
Bruce won’t have the heart for it now and become a Goals on Sunday regular, think Curbishley

BTW - Goalkeepers do not make good Managers, both Slutsky and Adkins were keepers and both struggled/struggling to get a balanced team.
Asking for help here ToP. How many goalies have made successful managers/head coaches?
Slutsky being probs the most successful prior to coming here, is that right?
Can’t think of an obvious one
We’ve had two in a row, although Nige was a physio, but still an ex pro goalie
Cheers in advance

The Portuguese dude at Wolves was a keeper, Santo, and he's doing very well.

Dino Zoff didn't do too bad.

2005 Labour got 355 seats from 35.2 % of the vote on a 62.4% turnout. 2015 Tories got 331 seats from 36.9% of the vote on a 661% turnout. Left wing fannies moan the second one is sooooo unfair and we need electoral reform. But didn't utter a peep, about the first one.

The answer is very few, but there is a case to be made that rather than it being a case of goalkeepers don't make good managers, it's more that there's such a small number follow the management path. They're already outnumbered ten to one, and when you consider some goalies enjoy much longer careers than outfield players (and other factors, such as size), it could be more than ten to one. A pertinent question to ask might be what proportion of outfield players make good managers.

Google brings up goalies already mentioned on the thread, plus others. Raymond Goethals is one; his clubs won European competitions under his management, and he took Belgium to third in the 1972 Euros.

Russian manager Stanislav Cherchesov won the league and cup in Poland as manager. Jock Wallace won things with Rangers, but probably anybody could. Other examples of goalies who went on to manage are Ray Clemence, Peter Shilton, Harry Gregg, Kevin Blackwell. Another example is Don Mackay, who had spent four years managing Blackburn until they were beaten over two games in the League Cup by the mighty Tigers and within days found himself replaced by Kenny Dalglish, who took Blackburn to 6th place and up via the playoffs, followed by 4th, 2nd, and 1st place finishes in the new Premier League.

Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui took Spaint hrough the WC2018 qualifiers before he was given the boot for agreeing to join RM after the tournament. Walter Zenga has won domestic silverware as manager.

Not sure why Preud'homme hasn't been offered a decent PL job. I've been touting him since 2014. Done well in Belgian league and great contacts in the African game. Perhaps he doesn't fancy the move to England.

Sylvester Stallone was a goalie and he has never done much good in football management but the good news on that front is there is a new Rambo film coming out.

Good point.

Though if it continues to be a downward spiral for the fortunes of our great club maybe keep it and take it to Kidderminster and York away. A nice retro feel on the terraces.

Won’t Mrs National make it into a nice pair of curtains?

Although if Everton reach a cup final... ha!

We even beat them at that.

Mrs Nash is excellent at many things - and although she would do a grand job with a 3 metered square Marco Silva banner - convincing her this would make a good living room curtain for any bespoke, wannabe designer abode, is highly unlikely.

Indeed, I'd say it has nil chance of happening.

Ffs, curtains must cost £30 these days and ur presenting a quality gar,ent at zero cost?

I’m not buying it. Did you flog it to Whatfart fans back in the day or just holding out in case the messiah returns. I’ll hold off on the Adkins-Salvador order then yeah?

Fuck Watford, the southern Jessies.

I'd hang fire on the Adkins Salvador banner at the present. As is now common knowledge, the club is to be sold within 24 hours and you know what these new owners are like with their new-fangled ideas and bringing in their own men.

One day, though, maybe one day...
