As I had to stay up and watch that bollocks im having my two penneth worth.

Poor.

We are never going to win this thing when trying to play like continentals rather than the Premier league 100 mile an hour all bollocks in type football.

Raheem Sterling. 200 grand a week for fucking what? A ponce and a poor one at that. If anyone aye he had a decent game wants sending straight to Not606. Jesse Lingard. Exactly. Does anyone know what Jordan ?Henderson does for a living? Kyle Walker at centre half? He’s not as good as his old man Des (O’Connor that is).

And then there are the substitutes. Imre Varadi and Hair Drier. Fook me. We need them two to win the game? Might as well have brought Craig Fagan on, if he is Inglish.

For once I didn’t have a decent bet on what should have been easy favourites. Colombia are shite. Marginally better than Panama.

Still, there lions on me shirt, blah blah blah.

Is City’s away strip been launched yet?

Henderson has been orchestrating our midfield, Cheats old bean and protecting the defensive line in open play. In theory it allows Lingard and Ali, Trippier or Young to go forward and he then provides a “start again” option. It’s about keeping the ball,

I’ve been his biggest critic - and not to sound like Ten Foot - I think he’s done a brilliant job tactically, without seemingly doing anything.

Kyle Walker is a calamity waiting to happen. FFS get Cahill in the back three!

There were countless passes that went astray in the other half. The supposedly creative players disappeared after about 10 minutes. At least two of them were carrying injuries.

Haha. Good spot.

Surely Ali was injured, he did feck all. Even tho he’s on my dipshit list he can play foota. Yeah, forgot Willie Young. Thought he underperformed.

Look, Colombia are not a good team. We should have bossed it, and didn’t. I thought there was a chance we might win it once we got lucky with the draw but France or Belgie No.1 team will be too good all over the pitch for us. Galant losers again.

Take the point about Henderson, just wonder why a back 3 need protecting when the oppos play 1 upfront.

Still, 3pm KO on a Saturday in a heatwave. What could go wrong?

I'm usually hyper-critical, but I thought we were pretty good last night.
Not brilliant, but pretty good, and in control.
Fell apart though in last 10 minutes or so, but then got it back during extra time.
Justice was done. Colombia were a horrible side and got what they deserved.
Having said all that:
- Sterling. I agree. I don't get why Southgate sticks with him. He was crap again.
- Alli. Something clearly wrong with him. Why play him? His role is so key, but it just isn't happening (coz he's carrying an injury or ?).
And Harry. Best yet. I feared he might get found out, but he just gets better and better.

It's coming home, Cheats old bean, and you'll have spent all of it whining like a girl.

99% of the the last 50 years, England would have gone on to lose that game after conceding in the 93rd minute.

Kick off is 5pm local time.

2005 Labour got 355 seats from 35.2 % of the vote on a 62.4% turnout. 2015 Tories got 331 seats from 36.9% of the vote on a 661% turnout. Left wing fannies moan the second one is sooooo unfair and we need electoral reform. But didn't utter a peep, about the first one.

On the topic of FIFA rankings, here's the QFs with added rankings. Russia's is very likely affected by not having to qualify.

Uruguay 14
France 7

Brazil 2
Belgium 3

Sweden 24
England 12

Russia 70
Croatia 20

If Columbia had concentrated on playing football for the whole 90 minutes instead of being intent on cheating, fouling, diving and trying to intimidate the referee until Ingerland scored thay’d have probably won it. They were the better team in the second half. Glad to be shut of the dirty twats though.

Ali got rid of the ball as soon as he received it. All his tricks and flicks that work in a fancy dan Totiingham side do not work at International level. Injury my arse, he cannot cut he mustard and has been found out and knocked off his pedestal. He has done nothing at all in the games he has started and is no team player. Replace him with Loftus Cheek who looks and plays like he’s made for this level and we look more balanced.
Sterling’s little tattooed legs move too fast for his tiny brain. Runs like a girl, a fast girl mind, but has no control and his tap ins at Man City are on a plate for him. Replace him with Rashford who has pace with skill and we look more balanced.
Young who is old, plays left wing back but is right footed cannot tackle but can push people over. He plays for Man.Utd has tattoos, wears wrist bands, swear at the ref and is shite. Replace him with Rose who can tackle, head and get forward and cross with his left foot and we then look more balanced.
A balanced argument.
Oh and Harry was class, that’s Maguire not Kane.
Be a struggle v the Turnips, who are dour and game spoilers. We should beat them, but they are a solid unit whereas we carry 3 players, see above.
Thanks

I don't think England have been poor, but neither do I think we've been outstanding.

I tell you what we have been though, determined.

And all teams need a slice of luck along the way (or in Greece and Portugal's case the whole damn cake to win the tournament.)

Maybe we might get that 'luck' along the way, despite VAR being seemingly against us.

Who knows?

It's good to have a reached the Quarters, we've done well to get this far - and we can only advance past what is put in front of us - so let's enjoy it.

For a change.

Now then...

Thanks goes to an undercover journalist who bought a pint of wine for Big Sam in a Chinese restaurant.

Thanks also to Hodgson who gave most of the players their first start in the national team.

Shame about the inability of some English to drink a lot without behaving like idiots in town centres and furniture shops. Notice that there is almost no bad behaviour in Russia where there are consequences.

Agree with that Ted, though Sam will be telling everyone it’s his side and he built the foundations blah blah.

I had/have Southgate down as a poor manager. Against Swindon he kept the same side despite Ali, Sterling and Young being shit the game before. All rewarded with another game and guess what, shit again. It needed changing, no sentiment in football and he missed the opportunity.

We won so you may offer he was on the money. Fair enough, but despite the global ejaculation at beating weaker sides with under pR performances there is a real need to up the ante or we are in danger of gett8ng dicked.

Still, happy days until..... as the youth say, “free larns on me shurt”.

Sort of agree Cheats.

Don't agree about Southgate (in general) he deserves credit where credit is due.

As for team selection, I would've put Rose in for Young and Rashford for Sterling, but hey, we won 0-2.

Part of me sees the reasoning for continuity, keeping the faith and all that. But it can also make a rod for your own back, too.

Progression over performance at the sharp end of the tournament, Cheats. You know that.

Jordan Henderson is a doubt with a hamstring strain, this would be a blow.
Although Delph has looked useful when coming on.
Croatia very strong in the middle and lets hope that Henderson starts (A fit Henderson that is)
We can win this one.

I trust all are feeling a bit fooked off right now.

Usual protagonists just not good enough.

J Henderson. If he “passes” a ball further than 10 yards the next event is a throw in to the other side. No pace to speak of etc. Should never have been there and clapping/shouting are not football skills.

Raheem Diomande. Apparently Croatia were scared shitless of his pace and skill. Explains why he was brought off, though what Rashford does as an alternative is a guess.

Ali pounced about again, Jessie tried to bend one when putting laces through the ball was the only true option. I guess a straight shot doesn’t look so good on You Tube as a bender, no pun intended.

Walker caught out as the pretend centre half and Stones, er, caught out by being lazy for their second goal.

Young? Fook me.

All in all, not good enough. Young team blah blah. Results count and coasting past Swindon and edging past Colombia and Tunisia, those giants of international football tell the tale.

Opportunity given away, Croatia are all right, but not brilliant.

Doubly pissed off as a large bet left my account for the bookie on an England qualification for the final. I should have known better of course.

I’d say I told Gull so but he knows. Still, only 4 weeks to go before City mount their promotion challenge, what’s to be down about?

For myself, no, I'm not fooked off. And the simple reason is that this team have exceeded expectations. Yes, they were finally found wanting, not least of all for goals from open play, the lack of a Modric in midfield (do we have one of those players?), and the lack of a Plan B.

But come on, how many years is it since you read reports of England games and there was a joy in reading them. My favourite was a description of 'Arry's goal. "was met with such force it should be accompanied by a soundtrack, the sound of a Victorian wardrobe falling over"

In four years time, who of the reigning "kids" world cup winners will have progressed?

And for all those saying we didn't beat anybody, we did a whole better than the great footballing nemesis, who never mind being tonked by South Korea, looked like Quaddie FC would have given them a game. Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar. Jesus wept if you are looking for disappointment, there are three utter fookin waste of spaces for their national teams.

Fooked off? Nah, it's been a blast for me.

ps not coz i made close on 2k from match betting and the abundance of free bets bookies threw at the job.

They exceeded expectations, despite some imperfections. For me, some of the faffing about at the back almost turned into disaster too many times, but I guess improvement will come with experience for those players. Kane didn't look like a goal scorer in the last two games; I wonder if he was carrying an injury. Instead he almost became the midfield dynamo that none of the other supposed midfielders were anyway near to being. The other supposedly creative midfield/forward players had trouble stringing two passes together in all but 1.5 of the games. Yesterday's second half consisted of defenders passing the ball about instead of hoofing it a decent distance, before the ball reached the goalie who would then manage to hoof it half a decent distance under pressure. Didn't quite understand that tactic. The second and third and fourth halves against Croatia had none of the earlier build-up from the back. Just long-balls and hoofs that the little lads up front couldn't do anything with against the taller sturdier Croatians.

Despite the bafflement, they reached a semi and got the public on their side. Maybe the players are less dividing than some past ones. Maybe the older alleged journalists whose favourite game was Destroy The England Manager have resigned. No, there was Allardyce... they're just biding their time. I hope they die first, nastily, painfully, etc. Only Laaandan Boy Venables ever got a free pass from that set of heinous anti-patriotic bastards.

Anyway. A young side, hope for the future, etc, etc. Not sure what chance we have in temperatures of 200C+ in Qatar, a choice of sheer folly and corruption and death, selected on bribe basis by the evil and is-he-still-alive-the-bastard Blatter. I hope Blatter is forever haunted by all the slaves who died building the Qatar stadiums, now only 4 and a half years from obsolescence.

Ah but! Some say, we got the easy side of the draw, so we were lucky not good! Yeah, right, think FA Cup 2014, thank your gods and hold your tongue.

Well done and thank you, England manager and players. Be more experienced and better in 2 and 4 years. Ta.

As for Jacob Arry Maguire, well done, you were a tower of strength. Thank you, good luck, and believe in yourself.

I should also mention that I didn't notice a single referee reach the abysmal lows of some past World Cup officials (though I admit I didn't watch many games). Perhaps VAR kept them on the straight and narrow, despite its failings. Perhaps.

Tell me what? That England reached a WC semi final for the first time in 28 years... Practically the team that got knocked out the Euros by Iceland and were fancied to be challenging Tunisia to get out the group.

You carry whinging, Cheats old bean, I was thoroughly pleased with the performance. Croatia's midfield was better and dictated the game after 20 minutes. Hardly unexpected. Someone like an on-form Wilshere would have made the difference and stopped the defence from passing among themselves before long-balling it. All in all, bodes well for the future, if you can leave off committing suicide due to self-enforced misery.

Sterling has been a constant threat every game he has played in, putting pressure running at defences. His final product was poor at an international level, but I expect Manchester are happy to pay £200 a week for someone who scored 18 goals from 30 appearances last season.

It's been a great competition, England surpassed themselves and the future is bright.

No idea about Hull though - don't you have a different transfer window to the rest of the professional leagues, that begins in mid-September, where you pay several millions for a player that gets permanently injured after 5 games and then rely on some loan player whom is never heard of again after the season ends.

Try leaving off the gambling, sit back and enjoy an Aspalls or two during the game instead and life will feel better.

My favourite Devon ciders are small, locally owned cideries, so they are difficult to get abroad. Sometimes see St Austell and Cornish Orchards, from next door, which I like. Aspalls were bought by a US conglomerate earlier this year, who are exporting them to Asia and Northern Europe... so much easiery to get hold of (well, I can here). I prefer the draught dry Suffolk cyder - the premium versions, although stronger, are too fizzy and light-tasting.

The US conglomerate will probably explain Aspalls seemingly appearing from nowhere in the supermarkets, and the exporting of the stuff.

Anyone who's done a FA level one could see where it went wrong for England last night, Southgate to slow to react to the changes Croatia made after the break ,couldn't understand sterling being hooked ,1st change should have been Delph for Walker ,agree not a CB at fault for the goal against Panama and the Croatia equaliser Delph on to give us a extra man in midfield and to cut of the supply line from there right full back Southgate seems obsessed with 3-5-2 other subs Rose for Young Dier for Henderson which he did Loftus Cheek or Rashford on for Ali in ET ,relying to much on Kane and corners for goals Ali ,Sterling Rashford Lingard 2 goals between them out of 12 France 2-0 in the final

Could be worse, Francis old bean, we had Trevor Morley commentating on the game live from Croydon Box Park. He does Premier League commentary as well, where he understands Norwegian but always answers in English.

Hull fans, if there are any left, may remember him scoring at boothferry park in one of the first games of the 1990s. His career was eclipsed by him getting stabbed by his Norwegian then-wife when she allegedly caught him being beasted by Ian Bishop.

Tell me what?

ESSEX GULL

Phew, where to start!

Jordie “ave-it” Henderson not being able to cut the mustard in International football. Raheem “Diomande” Sterling running in to cull de sacs and not scoring any goals. Etc etc.

It may have been entertaining, if you like lots of cheating, rolling around when not touched, time wasting in the extreme (shaking hands with the whole crowd before walking backwards off the pitch). VAR was a farce. Why employ Stevie Wonder to view VAR and yet not have Kent Walton as technical advisor is a mystery.

Fook is fooked. So long as it looks good on instaface it’s ok. Stands full of tourists who have never been to a game before. Cool.

England overachieved. Southgate will be out inside two years. Phil Brown in.

Aspalls? What’s that - stongbow in a small bottle with a picture of a winking devil on the label no doubt. Cost 7 quid or something like that to show it’s a quality drink. Stick to Mansfield Mild, proper blokes guzzle when stood on Ferensaway waiting for your coach to Bolton away.

Well done to Potential, bashing the bookies. Hope they paid out, unlike some unreputable bastards on the market! Down a few hundred, thanks to Germany and Spain not turning up, but also England for being galant losers, again.

Open golf on soon. Rose for the Jug, though fancy Fowler too.

Just heard Conte got sacked. Think he will come to Hull?

I reckon that Henderson, Kane and Ali were all well off the necessary required fitness levels but they didn't want to miss the big game.
That in my opinion proved to be our weakness for the duration of the game plus extra time.
Ashley Young also struggled to maintain energy and Danny Rose should have come on much earlier.

VAR may, in time, develop into to something like the officials for American Football. Though the referee in the middle with the whistle has the final say, any rule breach is brought to his attention by any of the other six looking for a specific violation. A big may, for one thing, how long would the game last?

Kent Walton probably did pick up on the illegal throws occurring in the box, and pointed out to FIFA that we have got all of this on tape. Do we bring it to the attention of the referee or let it be a continuing contentious issue? Or were the referees instructed to, pre-match, finally tell the players "A penalty WILL be given"?

As for the rolling and diving, who was the clown that kicked the ball into his face off the post? Comic value aside, anywhere else and by anybody else he would have collapsed to the floor, while his team mates ran around waving cards.

Time wasting by any means, parking the bus to get a draw, or at least not hammered 6-0, was the game plan for the pub teams that qualified. And they are going to let more of the useless fuckers have a go soon.

Southgate gave the ressies a chance against Belgium. It didn't work, save we ended up the right side of the draw. I wonder how the Belgian lad feels now after scoring his worldy to beat us? if I was Martinez I would have asked the lad "what the fook were you thinking of?"

Yes all that, and I still enjoyed it. A young team with, hopefully, a few to come through for either the euros or definitely the next world cup.

edit ps Aspalls Premier Cru three for a fiver in Tescos 7.2%. A fiver well spent.

I cant help but keep thinking that our expectations really have hit rock bottom. We are England, not Luxembourg. Bright spots were H and the way Southgate & the team conducted themselves. Besides that, come on, get a grip.

Ruddy Nora, I have to pay £8 a bottle, no discounts or group offers allowed.

Driffield old bean, I'm not sure how your, or Cheat's, expectations could be anything but rock bottom.

We are Hull City. We are England. We are 50+. We have learned to manage our expectations. We have realistic expectations, unlike the manic media. We have seen it all before. We don't cry in defeat in the biggest game ever. We shrug, we think, "Typical City/England", we go home and come back the week after. Sometimes we win against expectations. Sometimes we get surprised. We know there's a hole in the ground just round the corner.
