It is reported elsewhere Leonid had said something along the lines of "especially like to thank the fans". Seems to have been omitted from that version.

I cannot imagine what set of circumstances would attract anyone of sound mind and principles to consider working for hullcitytigers.

They'd have to be desperate - skint, or in need of renewing confidence or self respect - none of which they'd come out with here.

Whoever they ship in, they'll be set up to fail, same as the poor sap they just drained.

Next!

It seems Adkins is our new manager, likely to be confirmed later today.

If so then let us hope he can get us a few points on the board.
Crosby usually does well with his contacts.

Dear Mr Adkins,

Way, way back, the supporters of Hull City were amazed at the generosity of the local philanthropist, who gave us a present, a gift. I am reminded of this now the festive season is upon us. But, Scrooge muttered his bah humbug and spoke if being careful of what you wish for. A sentiment you may also ponder.

Please feel free to join in the cozy fireside chats we enjoy here, or perhaps best just peruse the last 18 months thread.

I wish you joy in your new position,

Kind regards, potential

PS please can I have a signed photograph. I really would like to know what a certifiable fookin lunatic looks like.

Philip Buckingham‏ @PJBuckingham
Nigel Adkins has held further talks with #hcafc today. Everything still points towards him being named Leonid Slutsky's successor.

Philip Buckingham‏ @PJBuckingham
There's a readiness from both sides to finalise a deal. Can't see any obstacles.

Allam out,Adkins out.As far as i am concerned he knows all the problems regarding our club and if he takes the job without saying something positive on behalf of the supporters then he is nothing more than Allams puppet.

I wish Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby all the best.
A run of very difficult games ahead.

Although I would not have expected anything different, I am underwhelmed by this appointment. I genuinely want this fella to succeed but given what has been going on since SB walked I don't have any faith that things may have changed, that allam has learned from his mistakes over the last two years and that he has offered more than has been offered to Adkins predecessors. Somehow you get the feeling that this man has been brought in as another fall guy. What we do know ids that allam has said no further investment. What we also know is that we are a selling club, that the way forward in allams mind is by loanees and journeymen at the end of their careers. If this is the way forward to gain promotion back to the promised land then allam is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Appointed as "Head Coach". No meddling or involvement with the recruitment process at one of the best run clubs.

This appointment was made, let's not kid ourselves, weeks ago. Directors box sighting, scouting out opposition, and who knows what behind the scenes.

Well Nige, its your gig now. I too, don't want you to fail, but I still would like the photo.

ADKINS: WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

Nigel Adkins issued a rallying call on his first morning as the Tigers’ new Head Coach as he called on everyone to unite behind the team as he looks to turn the Club’s season around.

Adkins arrived at the University of Hull Training Ground on Thursday to meet his squad and staff, and he wants everybody pulling in the same direction in his mission to guide the side up the Championship table.

“Where we are in the table is something that we need to address and I’m really looking forward to working with the players, getting to know the staff and engaging with our supporters,” said Adkins.

“We all need to work hard together to improve the situation that we’re in at this time. When you look at the group of players that we have here we have experience, we have internationals with some of them going to the World Cup next summer, we have players that have played in the Premier League and we have some hungry, young players that have come through the Academy and have done ever so well this season.

“We score a lot of goals and that is a positive that needs accentuating, but we have conceded too many goals and we have to address that collectively.

“We need everybody pulling in the same direction because we all want the same thing – for Hull City to be challenging at the top end.

“This football club has been through a fantastic period in its history recently with Premier League promotions, an FA Cup Final, a League Cup semi-final, playing in Europe – we have to embrace that and keep that positivity going. With everybody pulling in the same direction we can achieve success here.

“Spirit and togetherness is everything. We all share a common goal – you come and support Hull City, you work for Hull City, you want Hull City to do well – and we all have a role in making that happen.

“The players need to perform and we need the right environment to extract every ounce of potential that they have got. Can we make sure that when they go out onto the field, they entertain the supporters and give them something to cheer about?

“Fans want to enjoy watching their team, they want to be off their seats and getting behind the team. Likewise, when you’re under pressure and giving everything you’ve got to keep the ball out of your net – that’s enjoyable as well and we need to have that grit and resolve to make that happen.”
