Was just checking on our previous managers records and see that Marco Silva has now equaled Billy Russel's 100% win record (during 1 of his 3 stints).

In 3rd place in the modern era was Bobby Brown who won 10 and drew 4 as a caretaker wedged between Mike Smith, and Colin Jug Ears.

This was achieved at the end of the 81/82 season before we started our upward trajectory under Jug Ears.

I was going home and away pretty much every game at the time but can't for the like of me recall why Brown wasn't given the job on the back of that impressive record.

If you check the dates, I believe Bobby Brown went as part of the clear-out that saw Don Robinson take over, so I'm guessing he was binned by the administrator.

yeah I thought that looking at Appletons arrival, seems a loss in some ways as it looks like the tide had already turned under Brown and Chilton, or maybe Mike Smith did have the makings of a team.

Wish my memory was better as this was prob my peak time of following City going to nigh on 100% of aways

It coincided with me finishing at university and coming back to Hull, followed by a brief "do I care?" internal debate, followed by 24 seasons of going.

Sliding doors Imp.

If we'd held on to Bobby Brown, DIY Appleton or even Mark Hateley we could easily be an established Prem team by now, owned and directed by Martin "80grand" Fish and playing in a redeveloped BP.

Instead we have today's rubbish.

So was it just a case of Don Robinson bringing in his own man or was Brown already on his way?

I'm guessing the administrator got rid of almost all but the players.

Brown hung around for a while after Smith went, but went back to Wales, i think it was Newport County.
I am sure he was the only person to remain from the Smith era and was around during receivership, but not sure if he was pushed or went of his own choice
