Didn't he come back with Exeter or someone and get inevitably and appropriately red carded.

Commentators used to wind me up when Julian Johnsson was with us (and previously and since). They'd pronounce the J in Julian the standard English way and then morph the one in Johnsson in to a Y sound, so Julian Yohnsson. Brought out my inner psychopath, which is never far away. Had to go throw darts at my Motson dartboard. John Motson's pan-world pronunciation, Jesus H Corbett!

The match when Brabs was sent off at the final whistle for fighting was the Macclesfield game in the video above and it was for Torquay against us at BP that he got another red card about 2 years later . Think Sammy McIlroy was the manager of Macclesfield . Nobby was manager when we won 5 nil at the KC in the FA cup .

Thanks, CG. Torquay is more or less Exeter I think. I'll check with Essex Gull next time he's on.

It was Macc Town.

It's great watching that again, but it's also a stark reminder of how much the game's changed.

One of your favourites is people pronouncing Sevilla as 'severe' isn't it?

The Faroese loved JJ and followed him especially when he signed for us
I "enjoyed" eating Puffin once in Thorshaven whilst discussing JJ
Stood in the Kempton when Brabs in his Torquay shirt was red carded for a lunging tackle.
I had mixed feelings, glad to see him walk but felt a bit sad for him as he used to wear our shirt.
Hatred at the time against Brabs from the Kempton for that tackle but joy when rouge was shown.
I can see Brabs going on to better things than Southport (Who sang, we shall overcome Southpooooooorrrrrrt) 2-0 FA Cup win, early 70's? Tough nut Southport to break down that day, but it was only a matter of time before they buckled.
He's a toffee is Brabs and I reckon he could well end up at Goodison of which would be a dream come true for him.

KK it was the cup run 65/66 season when we went out to Chelsea in the replay. Southport were really up for it that day and they brought a lot down to BP. it was a struggle as you say but we overcame!!!!

I just wish some of our so called super stars showed a quarter of the effort Brabs always gave.

or just gave us a fucking laugh like brabin, whitehurst, ashbee etc did on a number of occasions, it is meant to be entertainment after all, much better than watching robots move sideways and in triangles and everyone getting hung up on 4-4-2 4-2-4, whatever, who gives a shit.

Fuck the short term we will build a 1000 year Hull City Reich
