Don’t give money, give condoms, don’t build a school dig a pipe and get clean water to people.

Knickers for the natives? And they've waited long enough. Build the school and the water pipe.

Trickle down doesn’t exist if anything it’s trickle up

Yes, that's always been true. From Reagan/Thatcher it has been the guiding principle, to the detriment of the poorer off. An obvious lie, but it was well sold to those that it helped.

but we need a new language to describe what is actually happening not the old winners / losers - power vs. oppressed paradigm that is clearly NOT how the global economy really works.

There are quite a few people who would not agree with you.

You say from Reagan to thatcher but the global statistics are absolutely irrefutable we have made enormous strides to eliminating poverty all over the world.

Tell me what detriment to the poor you are actually referring to?

>>>>>Reality is they already have all of those things data point: Average years spent in school for 30 year olds today =‘ 10
Percentage of global population that has access to electricity = 83%
Percentage of 1 year old children vaccinated = 81%
Majority of the worlds population now lives in the upper quartile of income = total reversal over the last century
Average life expectancy of the world today = 70 years old (doubled in the last century)

And they are suffering from ignorance, out of data attitudes informed by bad data and / or news related bias.

E.g. how has the number of deaths from natural disasters changed over the last 100 years?
A: more than doubled
B: stayed the same
C: decreased to less than half

Take a guess...

In the question of how has extreme poverty changed over the last 20 years...
Only 5% of Americans know that it has more than halved. In the UK only 15% know what proportion of the worlds children are vaccinated. In a huge UN survey regarding 12 key questions about the status and wellbeing of the human race in 2017 on average people get only two out of 12 questions right. Staggering ignorance is widespread and educational attainment actually predicts a WORSE score. How can this be?

Our world presents information in ways that knowing the truth and actual perspective is rare...

Misconception #1 the world is divided in two the haves and have nots
False in 2017
True in 1965

Misconception #2 the world has a high income developed world and low income undeveloped world

False in 2017
True in 1965

World now has roughly four groups of income and only one billion 20% live in group one with the lowest income - this is also the fastest reducing group.

Take Brazil one of the world most unequal societies...

In 1989 the richest 10% had 50% of the total share of income today they have 40% and hasn’t been this low for decades. Most Brazilians have left extreme poverty well behind as a distant memory.

Globally the ignaorance is everywhere in Belgium 90% of people think the world is getting worse 75% in the UK are ignorant too.

It seems people are stuck with the way they thought the world was in their childhood and have compounded every bad news story, every charity appeal video, every disaster headline and more into their pessimism. Meanwhile the facts and reality have been steadily going only one way...

Cheer up you miserable fuckers.

Percentage of global population that has access to electricity = 83%

So that leaves over 1 000 000 000 without.

Majority of the worlds population now lives in the upper quartile of income = total reversal over the last century

The richest 1% of the American population in 2007 owned 34.6% of the country's total wealth

The next 19% owned 50.5%.

The bottom 80% of the population owned 15%.

Data is open to interpretation in different ways.

...Especially if you keep looking at more than a decade old data.

first you post pictures of a famine ravaged child from LAST century and now you rely on eleven year old data to prove an invalid point. No wonder your world~view is as warped as it is...

If you really think the rich have been forced to tighten their belts...

Could you find and post please, an up to date picture of a starving child? Cheers.
