UK’s tax and benefits system reduced income inequality by two thirds last year according to the ONS.

Average income for the wealthiest 5th were £88k before state sponsored theft and redistribution by the state under the treat of violence / incarceration. This was twelve times the average for the bottom fifth. (£7400)

Until... our Robin Hood taxes reduced this top fifth income to only four times larger than the bottom fifth. (£66k to £18k).

Will thanks be forthcoming at any point or will the politics of envy still run deep in our society?

The ONS says that claims that the gap between rich and poor is not born out by the data... and is lower than a decade ago.

Facts not feelings

Candy will be along shortly no doubt to say it is all wrong. Facts are inconvenient things for lefties who can't accept them.

2005 Labour got 355 seats from 35.2 % of the vote on a 62.4% turnout. 2015 Tories got 331 seats from 36.9% of the vote on a 661% turnout. Left wing fannies moan the second one is sooooo unfair and we need electoral reform. But didn't utter a peep, about the first one.

Interesting figures.

What's included in the ONS figures for income?

Total net household incomes: Income from employment, dividends, etc.

For the lowest paid they are now out of tax altogether and get various benefits.

Is this information the result of a voluntary sample of 5,000 households? That's what a quick look at the press release implies.

Sounds a load of bollocks to me. Still, facts of their choosing are used extensively by Rightists.

Tezza is going to boost NHS, housing, the Military, HSR, HSR 2 and almost certainly the wealthy and the large companies OUT OF THE BREXIT DIVIDEND!

Yes it’s a good sample and well run survey without bias from a vested interest organiser.

I trust it way more than all the usual shit from the usual charity sources

Now there's a fucking shock!

Did those doing the sample check that people didn't have their fingers crossed behind there backs when reporting their earnings?

So it relies on 5,000 people to tell the truth about their investments and earnings?

I'm not cynical. Its a voluntary survey of 5,000 people who have to be trusted that they are telling the truth about their earnings. There are no facts here other than the form was completed.

All it needs now is for firms to pay a living wage and we'll be laughing. And ensure firms pay their taxes. All this Socialism is burdensome.
