Google are going to render themselves and YouTube irrelevant, which is a good thing. New options are appearing.

When Orwell wrote 1984 he never imagined it would be large corps that would become the thought police.

I am now getting my insights via long-form alternative media. James Damore’s story via the Rubin report was chilling to me and gets behind the usual Fox / BBC biases which I have now rejected.

I also like the raw footage street journalism that now reveals starkly how much spin and editorial even ‘impartial’ sources have been adding. I saw this with my own eyes after the Manchester attack and there is no going back to mainstream media for me.

Let it never be said that I was silent when they needed me - William Wilberforce

I posted a YouTube clip on here a while back and got a response - don't remember who from - that the YT poster was some sort of "wannabe". Turns out his videos have higher viewing figures than the daily circulation figures of any UK newspaper.

Will They? This forum has complete free speech and unaccountability for posts. Not606 has moderators, language filters and bans on certain topics being broached. Which forum is visited and posted on over 100 times more a day than the other? The majority want policed environments and boundaries to live in. Google and Youtube offer this.

They are commercial entities who realise that they get more advertising, get taken more seriously, increase their revenue and are able to sell more data on users if they follow the way the wind is blowing, which is now to clamp down on race-related comments and supposed alt-right.

It's always been this way.

1984.

Great book. Classic.

And proving to be unbelievable foresight.

Now then...

I know this is 'personist', or something, but I wouldn't believe a word those two cunts were saying. Where were they found?

You've missed a lot. I'll summarise. The way YouTube had always worked was that adverts which played before a video were directed at the user and were chosen based on the user and what the user's interests appeared to be. In 2016 the New York Times ran an article which claimed that adverts were being run before "unsuitable" videos. As an example, Coca Cola adverts might be played before a pro-ISIS video. Many advertisers swallowed this deceit and began withdrawing money. This meant that those posting videos on YouTube, and making some sort of a living from a share of the revenue from an advert on YouTube, found that their share of money diminished. On top of this, YouTube began clamping down on content and "demonetising" videos, frequently on grounds that were tenuous or nothing to do with the terms and conditions that posters had agreed to. Recently YouTube have signed up various groups and people to oversee this, with the result that many videos are being demonetised on the weakest of pretences. Anything even vaguely in favour of Trump and the US Republicans stands no chance. One of the groups given the power to flag videos as unsuitable is an organisation called the Southern Poverty Law Centre. They are so far left that even Obadiah would lose sight of them over the hill.

I've been watching this happen for the last 18 months. Video posters are now taking payment through Patreon - which has also started clamping down on uncontroversial stuff - and spreading their videos onto other platforms. There is an obvious danger in driving videos away from mainstream websites - it can become more difficult to monitor the really bad stuff. But much of it is not bad stuff, and there have been many cases flagged as unsuitable for merely disagreeing with content of other videos. Anyone who posts a video debunking the loonier excesses of feminism can expect a rash of attacks. Their MO is to try to get people fired from their jobs if they can. There is a cancer of posters known to their detractors as Social Justice Warriors. They reject science and rationality. Anyone who disgrees with the SJWs will be labelled as Nazis/Fascists/white supremacists. Among posters on there are a Jewish Lebanese professor, who gets accused of being a Nazi; a Jewish conservative, who gets the same accusation; a British gay conservative Jewish "provacateur" married to a black man, who gets accused of being a Nazi and homophobic; and a Canadian professor who has hundreds of hours of videoed lectures on YouTube in which he rails against extremists at both ends of the spectrum, but gets accused of being alt-right, a term that still has no definition.

Anyway, that'll suffice for now.

And when a female American politician hoping to win a presidential election opts to agree with the suspicion that around half the electorate might vote for the most bizarre presidential candidate in 50 years solely because they are racists announces her thoughts before voting day it does nothing but entrench the positions of many merely looking for any changes in their circumstances that have not appeared in 8 years of the previous Democractic regime.

And the same goes for Google and YouTube. Disparage half your audience, and you lose half your income and maybe all your company. Who hasn't Clinton blamed for her defeat?

Nobody listening to the people in the streets. No wonder Trump, no wonder Brexit. Yet there are still people in denial, and they'll still be in denial when Trump gets re-elected in 2020.

'Ordeal by innocence'

That's all just breathtakingly ironic, what?
