The point isn't whether mother works. The point is about male role models for youngsters. Studies (you can look them up if you want) show that kids from broken homes with no stable role model are several times more likely to go off the rails and end up on prison. That's not to criticise the efforts that most single mothers put into bringing up kids alone, it's just an across the board average.

This is an article for a different point of view.

I'm sure that considerable amounts of America are racist, particularly those that claim to follow some sort of god. Meanwhile, I'd be hugely surprised if the racist elements can distinguish between those descended from slaves and those relatively recently arrived from Nigeria.

Can't you estimate who is African and who is Afro-Caribbean in this country? They are often very different in many ways; posture, gait, clothing etc.

Almost all Afro-Caribbeans are West African. Many recent immigrants from Africa come direct from East Africa such as Somalia, they are quite different. Sub-Saharan Africans different again. Hope this helps.

Identity politics and intersectionality

You highlight these as being something beastly and left wing, but they are just descriptive terms. Intersectionality just means being in one or more groupings, usually used in terms of discrimination. Black women can be discriminated against for being women and/or being black. Identity politics is a way to describe, say, mainly White anti-immigrationists voting for UKIP. Not wildly Left wing.

I'm not sure what you fear Labour might do if in power. They won't rush to war, they won't sell off the NHS, they won't give tax breaks to the well off to encourage them, or make the poor poorer to encourage them. I sincerely hope they will rationalise education to cut down the plethora of "schools", especially faith schools. They will build council houses and at least regulate private let homes to be fit for human habitation. At my ward level there has been NO discussion on gulags.

The fear is that they will tax, spend and borrow until the UK is rendered bankrupt and economically impotent - something that has happened frequently under Labour control.

McDonnell was incapable of managing a £3 billion budget in the early 1980s, his ideas and pronouncements revealed the last few years show no further ability, certainly not one to manage a budget of one thousand times that amount.

I seriously doubt that Corbyn will end faith schools. That might lose him his winning margin of what looks like it could be a close vote, if the polls are to be taken seriously anymore...

I disagree completely about the uses the much-further-left-than-you-and-obadiah are using identity politics for. the loonier end of the feminist movement are using intersectionality for similarly nefarious and pernicious ends.

Meanwhile, I want Labour to replace the current twats at the next General Election for all the reasons you cite and more, but I have concerns about the extreme left and their authoritarian intentions. I'd prefer you not to be extreme left and/or authoritarian. I don't want those of those hues disrupting what I want a Labour government to do.

From my own professional observations it’s a simplistic observation - single mother=more likely to produce unruly yobs. There’s further factors.

1. The big one being whether the father is completely absent - through intent or being forced by mother.
2. Access to extended family support
3. Peer group
4. History of familial offending - sometimes why Dad is absent

Etc...

Of course. I'm trying to ascertain reasons that some sectors of society appear more prone to this kind of thing and whether it can be changed.
