being cunts, but you were 4th top, would you still be boycotting?

I got my boycott in early by stopping going five years before the Allams turned up. We've been promoted to the PL twice under the Allams and in both promotion seasons the average gate was lower than when we were promoted from the third flight in 2005. We've had five seasons in the PL and each season has had lower crowds than the one before. At the moment, they add in all the passholders, whether they're at the match or not, and it's usually obvious that many are not there.

For most of the time at the current stadium (crowd limit around 25,400), the majority of home fans have been pass holders. That stabilises attendances greatly. Looking back over history, factors like recent results, perhaps the weather, perhaps the opposition, perhaps when the game was played, could have absurd effects on gates. In 1965 (we went up from D3 that season), a 6-1 win on December 11th - probably a Sunday - was watched by 16,349, and on Boxing Day, 40,231 turned up. Probably much the same at most clubs in those days when grounds were all standing and there were no safety limits.

An interesting post. Reg had a big beef with the "matchday experience" in the Prem. It could beat the experience of watching NTFC's aimless hoofing on it way back to the bottom, which is their true home.
