Hard to live a normal life without being able to have any discussion or conversation without drawing comparisons to North Korea and East Germany.

I agree. There’s also the USSR and Cuba to throw in the mix if things become dry and repetitive.

Fucking hell!

OK, it's a problem. Should indoctrination be totally left to parents? Answers on a postcard please.

Like the dry and repetitive postings about Trump, Boris Johnson, UKIP and Brexit.

No mention of Free Speech, or lack of it, in various countries around the world of course, only the USA from the obsessives.

2005 Labour got 355 seats from 35.2 % of the vote on a 62.4% turnout. 2015 Tories got 331 seats from 36.9% of the vote on a 661% turnout. Left wing fannies moan the second one is sooooo unfair and we need electoral reform. But didn't utter a peep, about the first one.

Or going on about the USA. Or cities and football clubs you claim to have no connection with.

Or going on about the USA, to which we hope to get as close to as possible, in trade deals and whatever else they might 'ask' us to do if we want to be their friends.

Why do some of us 'go on' about the USA, a dim bastard constantly asks? Because they make us follow their directives on, say, Iran, when we do't really want to. But the US controls the world financial system, so they will levy huge fines on British companies who maintain trade against their wishes.

I am pushed to find any similar diktats issued by North Korea that punish us on such a scale. Or even the Soviet Union at the height of its power.

If you don’t like it move to East Germany.

I’ve heard Brandenburg is lovely this time of year, especially the Christmas markets.

I was in Nuremberg last week for two days, it certainly wasn't a trial - fantastic city, if you like that kind of thing. Driver-less underground trains, fascinating architecture and good food. Could have stayed a week as there is a lot to do there and in the surrounding areas. English is not as widely-spoken as I'd thought it might be for a relatively large, tourist city, so wife and daughter did the translating as both speak Fritz's lingo.

Why didn't some go on about the USA under Obama, who said we were at the back of the queue? Was it because he was black? Or because he was a Democrat? He deported more people than any other President, over 3 million, a yearly rate far in excess of Trump. He came out with pronouncements about immigrants not using kids to get in and immigrants trying to get in were pepper sprayed in 2015. Don't recall uproar on here by the lefties over that. Or him overseeing the dropping of more bombs than Bush Snr and Jnr combined.
Or the pronouncements of the odious Hillary Clinton regarding immigration and attacking other countries? Or her cover ups and buying off of victims of her husband's worse behaviour than Trump's.
Was that because she was a woman? Or a Democrat. Hypocrisy and double standards being a common trait amongst those on the left.
Yet the obsession with Trump persists. Of course it is understandable there is confusion on here. One poster declared Jews were persecuted under the Weimar Republic. Another, who no longer posts under his original name, thought one of the undesirable imports from the USA were Teddy Boys. Maybe he thought they were named after Theodore Roosevelt.

Driverless trains? How did the unions allow such dangerous things? No wonder Germany's transport system lags so far behind us.
How remiss of everyone not speaking English, Arrogant so and sos. Not like our multilingual, highly educated students upset at the thought Brexit will stop them working abroad.

Did you see Redwood the other day bigging up the postwar mixed economy at the expanse of neoliberalism? He didn't mean to, of course.

Irrelevant, except in the context of bile bringing up the US and then claiming he's tired of people bringing up the US.

To put things straight, no US president of late hasn't been any friend of the people. And is unlikely to be for a while.,
