£7 m would not even have bought off 1 DUP MP.

NHS Shared Business Services (SBS)

Keep Private Business out of the NHS. It always ends in tears.

No bad management makes that sort of shit happen - pri-sec or pub-sec

A football club sacks the manager for poor results whether amateur or pro is irrelevant

Just what happens employees within, and certain private companies forming partnerships, realise that the NHS is a bottomless pit of cash with no effective governance ensuring value for money.

Jezza's solution, provide more cash, thus more encouragement of the same.

If NHS are for wasting X billion any mug firm can come in and promise to save 10% of that, with all the resultant errors along the way.

Fuck the short term we will build a 1000 year Hull City Reich

And I suppose that's "human nature"? To "steal" if you can? A pretty sad state of affairs. How can it be changed?

For perspective - globally the healthcare sector is seen as the most wasteful with > 1/3rd of its costs being pure waste.

In this situation a narrative of we need more money is fucking immoral.

That's Tory policy, that is.

It's what Jeremy *unt is driving. Bit by bit, starve the next area of the NHS so it looks bad, sell it off to your brother or cousin or mate, then overfund that part so it can work nicely again and brother/cousin/mate can pocket some profit.

Pure BS

The OECD puts healthcare waste globally at 20% of $1.2trillion
Meanwhile WHO, the sectors own global advocate, puts the percentage at possibly as high as 40%.

Around the globe the sector has increasing costs way out of proportion to actual outcomes or the known increases in demand. Globally it is accepted that the fundamental model of craft-type workers operating one-size-fits all generalist health model based upon repairs in hospital with the poor patient meandering through the 'system' (as if there even is one) has to end. Prevention and analytics can dramatically cut these biblical levels of waste out...

Meanwhile the denial and resistance from within for the status quo and its never ending money pit would have us all believe that anyone charged with reform is a cunt before they even start.

When you ask the ministry of NO (BMJ, Royal Colleges etc.) what they would do instead the silence is fucking deafening except of course "give us more money"

It will inevitably get to a reform or die position which is an outrage given what the system is supposed to stand for. The public is only going to be hoodwinked for so long before a generation starts asking why can't you sensor me up via my phone, have my genetics to work on my prevention plan and see me virtually through FaceTime on my phone. It's only decade away before the public will lose patience.

You spin a merry yarn, exiled. Where you fall down is telling someone that the Tories aren't trying to privatise the NHS.

Jeremy Hunt co-authored a policy pamphlet that called for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system.
The 2005 policy book, called Direct Democracy: An Agenda For A New Model Party, was a collection of writings authored by a group of Tory MPs.
Amongst other ideas, the book contained a blueprint for replacing the NHS with an insurance market system – and called for the private sector to be brought in.

Tory policy chief Oliver Letwin wrote a 'blueprint' for NHS privatisation. David Cameron 's right-hand man co-penned a document for an influential think tank, which contains a string of ideas that have already been introduced by the Tories - including the increased reliance on private companies. But it also calls for the principle of the NHS being free at the point of use to be scrapped, and even for patients to be charged for every service.

And as for Virgin Health... Of course they don't want to privatise it!

I don't think they want to privatise it per se - they want to improve it but don't know what levers to pull - they think the market will fix it it won't. Trump is the same he wants to improve their system and he thinks his way is inherently better than Obama but they are both wrong. The only way the system will change is when the British public are flying to India and getting better healthcare at a fraction of the price and amazing quality with a free holiday in Goa convalescing. Singapore is already talking about being the worlds best at this health tourism. Meanwhile the UK system will carry on in blissful ignorance until the data will become impossible to ignore. Just like in many other sectors innovation and transformation will come from outside our borders. Shame because if our system was so superior we could be exporting it and training it around the world earning some much needed dough to reduce the structural deficit.

What we all want to keep is the "free at the point of use". We don't want to keep any inefficiencies or inadequacies and we don't want anyone making profit out of people's ill health.

If that's the case then you should be urging reform and cost saving through the elimination of waste. The levels of waste and inefficiencies and the growth in costs are far far more threatening to our system than the Tories.

To link an earlier discussion a man like Jimmy Reid would have seen this when it was way off on the horizon and would have sought to do something about it.

We also need a new phrase for 'free at he point of use'. It's not fucking free it is costing many of us massive amounts.

Technically we have universal healthcare access for all British citizens via a central payment / payer model

But you said it was 'free'!

If you pay tax you are paying regularly for your NHS and if like me you have hardly ever used it for decades you are paying for others too. I don't mind this big nationalised insurance scheme but please...

Saying it is FREE is just dopey talk £126bn this year and with only 26 million of us actually paying anything in its nearly £5k per head

So what part of free is even relevant?

Look, you silly, pedantic cunt, my wife's treatment was free, this is "paying for it". OK, bitten by a rattlesnake is unusual, but you can find endless others with a quick Google for US medical bills.
