The point I was making is that 'people' myself included chose which rules / regulations to follow inside and outside of the home. After all attempts at education fail, unless the requirement to conform can be engineered out in such a way to make it virtually impossible not to follow, the only answer is tough enforcement.

There lies the dilemma, such enforcement in most cases would be deemed unacceptable, especially by the 'civil libertists and vested interests.

Interestingly I always thought dilemma was spelt (never use spelled) dilemn

Perhaps they fitted the aluminium cladding instead of the zinc cladding and saved £293,368?

Was that the same stuff that 48hrs after the fire, people were claiming was £5000 cheaper. It seems the authority and the residents participating in the management board drove down the costs significantly. All sorts of specifications were changed. The list in the times today is telling.

When you get work done do you ever drive the price down by changing the scope of work / materials etc...

Of course you don't

People were furious when they thought it only saved £5500, but the new figure shows it was really worth it, eh?

I'm waiting for a charity single to be released: "The night they drove those old costs down".

We really are bone idle, aren't we? People - and national newspapers - talk about the fascism of recycling boxes as if sorting glass, plastic and paper is too much to expect of decent people. I met a bloke in hospital who'll never walk properly again after a ladder fall. He couldn't be bothered to move it for the final bit of work and just tried to lean over a bit more. People should be free to do such things if it only affects them. But how many things only affect the main actor?

Well the savings made were a few million when you consider all of the other things they pressured the contractor to change. The residents on the committee would have wanted to save money for some reason it seems...

So they died because of cost cutting and the prettier panels the posh people could see out of their windows? Who knew?

Agreed it is often down to idleness, but what say u about tough enforcement, how would you feel fo re.g. about eviction of people who regularly wedge fire doors open? Ok if it's a banker but not so OK if it was an illegal immigrant, appears to be your normal stance.

You brought bankers into a discussion about cladding of flats. Then you go all squealy.

About the eviction - where would they be evicted to? An unclad block? Knee jerk nonsense.

They don't, they look out onto blocks clad in flammable panels so their outlook is better. Has your block got panels? Good job they haven't after Pogba's fire? Same floor as you as well.

Have you been on the sauce, chinks? Cladding is a brilliant idea for many reasons, which we all know. However, covering towers with fire lighters wrapped in aluminium foil is not on, even for toffs.
