Hammond hints tax pledge may be dropped

The chancellor has given a major hint that he is no fan of the 2015 Tory manifesto pledge not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. After the embarrassing U-turn on the attempt to raise self-employed taxes for the self-employed, Philip Hammond told me the government needed "flexibility" on taxes.

Unwilling to come out and say that the last 7 years have been a fucking disaster for the country, he gives broad hints that Osborne's Miracle was a bit Emperor's New Clothes; Tat from Tatton.

And yet government spending on the NHS went from £98 billion in 2009/10 to £114 billion in 2015/16..
Which once inflation is factored in, is still an increase of spending year on year.

Those problems are far more about financial mismanagement than not enough investment. But whilst a large percentage of the electorate solely blame the government, the real issues will never be solved.

So what is it about 7 years of Tory rule that caused the efficiency of the NHS to plummet?
