More worryingly, there was also a rise in the number of guns being fired on London’s streets, up from 239 cases in 2015/16 to 306 cases in the last financial year.

Yet we can still report this as if newsworthy. In America that's the average number for a Middle School playground in a week. More or less.

Yoot angry at Brexit perhaps.

More likely cutting of police resources... closure of stations, 20,000 less coppers than in 2010, the Sweeney now re-assigned to hunt down Twitter trolls and those who have made transphobic comments in public places etc.

Philippines style crackdown required, found with a gun / knife , immediate sub judicial execution, no repeat offences guaranteed.

Next problem to solve please.

It's you again, you little monkey! You're trying a bit too hard. But bankers, off shoring tax dodgers, subbie bashers and I'm with you.

I was just suggesting it might be best kept in perspective. Sorry to have upset you.

The crime figures are bad enough for several commissioners to address them as being related to cuts in the police budget and prison/judicial system.

Not sure why Black Lives Matter aren't on the case, but anyway.

Yet there are other areas of the country where performance has improved despite the cuts...

No wonder government is starting to wonder why?

Can you give a few examples of places where crime has fallen? Obviously, the statistics are not collected the same way in every force. Chief Constables have to balance the need to look 'up against it' to get more staff and being 'out of control of their areas'.

So you can't give me any examples? Why not just say that?

The Government's view.

The Home Office issued a statement suggesting that violent crime is falling, which appears to fly in the face of stark figures from Britain’s biggest police force of soaring knife and gun crime and warnings from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary that British policing is in a 'potentially perilous' state.

A Home Office spokesperson said: 'Police reform is working, with the latest ONS figures showing crimes traditionally measured by the Survey have fallen by a third since 2010 to a record low, with over 370,000 fewer violent crimes a year.

The Police don't seem to agree.

click

bit out of date but no doubt it was stopped being released when the message was pretty clear who was boosting the crime figures
