Latest stuff from the cutting edge of political science and psychological research.

Starts with asking where the rise of PC Culture and SJW's came from and goes to left and right wing authoritarism.

Just another example of why simple left / right labels are too simplistic.

I've recently come to similar realisations, plus I've used the PoliticalCompass website on several occasions over the last few (5ish?) years; it uses two axes, which it calls left-right and authoritarian-libertarian. From the 1970s there something I didn't like about the what was meant to be the left, and it puzzled me. It seemed to disappear for much of the 1990s and 2000s, but it's back, and as unpleasant as I've always found it. It's only in the last few months, with watching videos relating to 3rd wave feminism, its absurdities, SJWs, misinformations and spin, etc, that I've been able to name it. It's a self-destructive monster which has rewoken to damage the Labour party's chances of re-election in 2020. The right-wing press makes out that Corbyn is typical of it, but I don't believe he is. The monster lurking under the bed is the authoritarian left, for whom freedom of thought and speech must not be tolerated. This monster frightens most normal people. All my visits to the PoliticalCompass site put me somewhere in the libertarian left quadrant and I find the authoritarian left (and right) horrific. We're all familiar with the quotation from Evelyn Beatrice Hall, often erroneously attributed to Voltaire - “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” While I'd prefer people to at least a little more considerate with their thoughts, there is too much kowtowing to people's sensitivities and sense of offence. People with bad views used to be allowed to voice their thoughts so everyone else could see what idiots they might be. Preventing a view from being heard does not make that view go away, but merely drives it underground, where it can reappear in the guise of someone like Donald Trump or worse (and, yes, I know Hillary Clinton has a lot to answer for and I know that, like Brexit, Trump represents, to some extent, a protest vote). In addition, the desperate eagerness of the authoritarians to assign their own baggage and nuances to the words of someone regardless of the person's intended meaning is pure dishonesty.

One of your big things, exiled? Do you lecture in it?

I bet "the cutting edge of political science and psychological research" has had you screaming shite every time until this one. I wish I had the time to watch it, but us Hard Left doodz are too busy.

What's a sjw?

"If I shake your hand do I need to wash it immediately?" Interesting.

Seems I got my views from a white man, ie my dad.

Sorry exiled, this is basically middle class crap.

As a man of your principals obi the biggest threat to you seeing your desired socialist solutions are these days by the SJW phenomenon and the so called regressive left -which I concur is exactly middle class crap. Worrying about nothing while far bigger problems are being left unattended.

Thanks Exiled. They are not the biggest threat, honestly.

Each new generation finds a different way to explain their position in society, but basically this is old wine in new bottles.

Beware people like me because they'll have you working down the salt mines.

Its ok to treat the Indians like shit as long as you call them native americans.

George Orwell spoke of sjws in the 30s, we had our own version in the 80s, some of whom got into the Labour Cabinets under Blair and Brown and promptly pulled up the drawbridge leaving millions outside.

The world is changing and for the first time in a while I can see the possibility of socialism in my life time. Some of the current sjws will help create it but many will oppose it. As it was in the past.

There are, of course, Social Injustice Warriors, but they prefer to be called neo-liberal politicians, or just The Government.

Just as confusing on the right, we now have the Alt-Right. The far right can be defined as authoritarian, libertarian, fascist or populist depending on the subject.

Poltical compass helps but add some psychological traits and you have a pretty clear view of how people will vote and what they will support.

I know what you mean, TOP.

It's like, you laughed at and ridiculed the stereotypes in Fawlty Towers, but you won't see it on the BBC (especially the BBC) again cos it's too dangerous, and us plebs can't be trusted to make up our own minds about racists etc.

I can feel myself siding with the Major, as a result.

As ted said the intelligent comparison would be with the alt right but the SJW's that are pouring out of US campuses at the moment will eat the left from within and as bill maher said will be agonising over nothings whilst getting shafted big style

Well burning down the campus all because of a visit by a British Gay Website editor hardly seems like the sort of tolerance for minorities the SJW's are always campaigning for is it.

...a British Gay Website editor...

Adolf Hitler was an unemployed Austrian painter. I remember the Reichstag fire came at an opportune moment.
